I can't believe people are so stupid to keep asking about the "phone, and pot, and house" and how could he be homless if he has all of that? Ummm, hello and DUH...ever heard of visiting someone to catch a buz and then getting on your merry way?? Jeez, get a clue. PS - The pictures are amazing.

Hi troy all hows it going nice pic's. I am from london england and i've been homeless for the last 7 years, living in tent's vans squats as you do. I found your site because I was looking for a place to get a shower/a public baths that has'nt been closed down. Homeless centers are great but homelessness is a twenty four hour thing, what happens when you get up at two in the morning and need a shower then? You stay dirty all night then wake up in the morning stinking and scratching people walking past you giving you dirty looks, your dignity wants to slap them for doing so but then you tell yourself they do'nt know any different and you might have done the same your self before you knew how it is. Can anyone tell me is anyone trying to get together a twenty four hour center so that "PEOPLE" like us can get this stuff together do's anybody know? Looking forward to hearing from you all Rocking Dave(ahh ju8st call me tender foot).

troy sees a much more open world than we do from our little cement boxes.... maybe we need to tep away from our computer wallpapers and see the real beauty
Mar 26
Thank you very much! I like these photos, they are realy beautiful! :) The most of all streams. The person, who made this photos has good artistic taste. Girl from Russia.

I like the tree pictures ( :

I think I like this group of photos the best. What they remind me of is when my brother would go camping or hunting and, loving his surroundings, would take similar such pictures. I used to explore and take similar such pictures as well. Just seeing the beauty in what is around you. Some people, regardless of what they have, appreciate nature - even if it's smack dab inside the city.

I'm from Russia. Very intresting project and Homeless people. In each foto so many freedom! I'm wonder))... Person with beard has good teeth

Troy those were awesome photos, they all look like they have a story about each image you captured. One more thing, these photos prove we miss all the beauty of each area of land by driving by in our automobiles and never think twice about looking deeper at something. Good work Troy and thanks for the reality check!

These are great both the landscape and subject photos are well framed and exciting. Troy has talent. I LOVE tha backlit tree with the mountain in the background. And the fella with his wicked smile; I can almost hear him laughing. Great pictures.
Mar 13
I'm glad to see Troy gets fingertips in his photos just like I do.
Mar 12
I've spend 100s of hours with the homeless at a soup kitchen, they do try to work for money, they just can't make enough for housing so they end up spendin it on odd things, but those things help them keep hope awesome project
Mar 12
This is an awesome project...keep up the good work.

I live in the Southern Oregon area. Alot of the pics are along the bike path. It runs from Central Point to Ashland. It ia a great place to walk or ride, but it is also kinda scary. Some of the people that live along it are not nice, and will try to hurt you. But for the most part its ok.
Mar 12
Has anybody posting ACTUALLY TALKED to a homeless person?
Mar 12
This is my favorite set of photos so far. The beauty in all of these scenery photos is that they show an appreciation for all the unused, in-between spaces that most people wouldn't see or notice -- the creek behind a strip mall, a railroad track, etc. -- which is very fitting for people who live their lives invisibly yet out in the open. Not that they wouldn't like to be elsewhere, but...very nice photos from an interesting perspective.

Y'know, we are not here to judge the homeless, figure out why they are homeless, or how. Just focus on the photography and the way someone who is homeless (whether they choose it or not) sees the world. this person really has an "eye" for photography. Look how he doesn't center his subjects and the landscapes are composed so that your eye travels throughout the picture. Just what you are supposed to do when photographing. Good Job! Beautiful stuff.
Mar 12
Some folks believe anything...some believe nothing. Most of us believe we are capable of doing SOMETHING to keep from being homeless.
Mar 12
"troy has a good eye for the visual metaphor".........which really isn't a visual metaphor, just something that looked really cool after he and his friend smoked that joint sitting on the table in the 4th pic.
Mar 12
Interesting to see a Homeless guy with cigarettes and a cell phone....equals montrhly apartment rent?
Mar 12
Haha! The old man pic is funny!
Mar 12
Pictures 005, 007 & 010 are amazing. Thank you for sharing!

Metaphor shmetaphor, Troy has a great photographer's eye for visual drama, beauty and color. I wish he had a camera of his own and could take pictures all the time. He has real talent.
Mar 12
All of the galleries are poignant, educational and beautiful to these eyes. Thank you for this project keep it all up.
Mar 12
that old man looks like he understands the value of a good song
Mar 12
Troy has some skills, very nice

The metaphor for the chain-link fence...i think there's a more literal reference intoned here. There's him, then the fence, then the rest of the world. The out-of-focus nature of the fence, hints at possibly some type of barrier in his sub-concious; something he can't quite grasp, and that is the cause of the seperation between him and the rest of the world. Some nice landscape shots, which border on the compositional. I would recommened the homeless taking a lot more photos. It would result in a much better quality spread of final pics, and I think, a much more subjective and valid portrayal of their reality. There aren't many shots in any of these groupings that say a lot about much. But there is a definite potential there.
Mar 12
All of these people take pictures of horizons.
Mar 12
damn some of these are nice
Mar 10
The smile of the old man is worth the visit
Mar 10
I agree that Troy is a heck of photographer.

Each photo of Troy's speaks of the independent life. Chuck it all and do it "my way". The world is an adventure with each day containing something new.
Mar 8
as the world passes by in its rush to nowhere, the shot from behind the chain link fence onto the freeway says it all. troy has a good eye for the visual metaphor.
